Growing up in the greater Chattanooga metropolitan area, I spent a lot of time outdoors. I grew up with a healthy respect and a love for being outdoors. My interests range from camping, hiking, hunting, kayaking, and digging for ginseng.

Paralleling being an outdoorsman, my family and I try to live my life in the style of a modern homesteader. I spend time vegetable and fruit farming, I keep a small fruit tree orchard on the homestead. My family makes many of the products we use this includes household cleaning products, baking breads and during the winter much of my time is spent maple sugaring (the process of making maple syrup).
